Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization was founded by Bob Maahe, who worked with Swiss contact in Uganda as a volunteer in Carpentry best practices program from 2001-2006.
Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization (UYSTO) is a legally and dully registered Non-Governmental Organization, with the aim of availing and empowering children, youth and women in Uganda with social and economic sustainable development. We believe that personal development and education are the way to end poverty and we are advocating this and a better future for youths in Uganda through all the activities and projects we do.
Primarily, UYSTO is established on the foundation of vocational education training, but interconnected to entrepreneurship skills training for social economic development. This has been due to answers revealed by the Training Needs Assessment conducted and Uganda’s society negative perception on traditional Vocational education skills training for a long period of time. In this regards, UYSTO’s aim is to inform, educate, advocate and train youth in Uganda, believing that vocational training will offer youths and women the chance to secure jobs faster, to be self-reliant, establish their own business and in turn, commit to a more systemized change in Uganda.

UYSTO has got varieties of programs and its possible that the volunteer can be accommodated for the activity of her/his choice, depending on the volunteers’ skills and interest where to engage. More other opportunities are available in computer, career guidance, technical courses, entrepreneurship, sports, and community forum awareness activities among other.
Accommodation
Volunteers has the possibility to choose between staying in the guesthouse, with different international volunteers (sharing room, normally 2-4 people) or to stay in a host family. Accommodation is at the UPA Guesthouse, average but not luxury.
Food
Volunteers prepare their own food. UPA provides gas cooker, a fridge, and utensils.
Alternatively, a volunteer can stay with a host family to be more exposed to the Ugandan culture.
UPA does not give pocket money to any volunteer
The volunteers must apply for a tourist visa online with this link. https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ . This should be done a couple of weeks or months before the departure date. The form requires you to fill in the address of the contact person in Uganda and you should use: ZZIWA SAMUEL MUSANYUSA, NANSANA WEST I ZONE, +256785601220. The immigration department sends you an approval document which you must print and present on arrival at the airport. The tourist visa costs 50 US $ and it’s paid during the visa application process on the immigration portal using selected pay cards.
The volunteer is required to come with his/her insurance
500 Euros shall be paid on arrival for one to three months. The fee covers pickup from the airport or bus station upon arrival in Uganda, orientation, guesthouse maintenance, and administration costs of UPA. If the volunteer is to stay for more than 3 months, 80 euros are paid per extra month in advance

UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the project but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 28-30 Euros.
