Project Description:

In conjunction with a branch of international NGO, the farm land is a large parcel of land with varieties of seasonal crops.  The objective is primarily to engage in “operation food basket” to be launched very soon.  Attention will be given to poverty alleviation programme of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) at the global level.

Work Description:

Much of bush clearing, seed planting, watering the ridges and crops, plowing and harvesting will be done.  New cultivation of ridges and crop layers will be carried out.  Volunteers will work in all season of the year on various plantations.  It will also include cultivating, planting, harvesting and stocking up the proceeds already ripe.  The volunteers will have intimate relationship with village farmers and exchange practical ideas about culture, customs and living in the farm as a means of  sustenance.

Requirements:

Volunteer needs to come with working hand gloves, boots, games, Music tools, wears for outing or social occasion and high motivation for the project.

Accommodation and Food:

Volunteer living apartment is arranged to stay with host family closer to the project and if interested, volunteer can reside in a self-contain bedroom in the project centre with available facilities and conveniences.

Visa Info:

Visa Issues: Please note that Tourist Visa is only for 8 weeks while stay for Business Visa or TWP Visa is not more than 6 months. If your stay is more than 6 months, STR Visa should be collected before departure. VWAN will help to administrate and facilitate extension Visa where possible.

Insurance:

The volunteer should obtain appropriate   insurance to cover period of stay in the project.  Host organisation allow this to be evident before placement in the project.  SCI travel Health Insurance is also appropriate.

Fees:

The participation fee is 300€  for 1 month placement for each camp project.

Fees Used for:

This covers both feeding and accommo-dation per week without any extra cost to collect for return trip to Airport.  Payment is made by the volunteer on arrival to the country.

The participation fee will cover expenses on daily feeding, moderate accommodation, administration, on-arrival orientation, group travels to the project site, preparation, certification and other logistics support.

Application Info: Volunteers need not be skilled in agricultural science but should be ready to act on instructions and guidelines. The camp will be supervised by an Agric manager and volunteers will work as a team in different areas of the farm (each group under a team leader). This is an ecological zone where major occupation is Agriculture and subsistence living. Eruwa Town has population of less than 1 million inheritance. It is situated in Ibarapa Central area of Oyo State.
Additional Information:

Pick up is arranged by VWAN on arrival  and return to the Airport after project.  NO extra fees is required after the payment of Participation fees on arrival.

Excursion and intercultural evening will be arranged by the host organisation from time to time during the project.  Weekend will completely be free for volunteer to experience community participation in programmes/
