Project Description:

MCF Junior School was started as result of the overwhelming number of un educated children in our community some of which marles children’s foundation is already supporting with basic needs of life.

The founders Mary  and Charles both former street children currently  help the homeless and orphans around Wakiso District and the suburbs of Kampala city, with our increased desire to educate more children in the community we deemed it right to start a mission  school in our community.

We believe that this school will help increase the number of educated children in this area which will help reduce illiteracy and boost the economic status of our community members and thus contribute the reduction of poverty amongst of our people.

Work Description:

·         Attend to Day Care Babies

·         Teach children  English of the ages 3 to 6 years in all Early Childhood learning areas and development skills

·         Play games with children for example sports

Teach pupils art and craft.

Requirements:

·         Independent

·         Very open minded

·         Creative

·         Emotionally strong

·         Ready to interact with Children

·         Ability to work with Children and Youths

Ability to handle a class is an added advantage

 

Accommodation and Food:

The volunteer has the possibility to choose between staying in the guesthouse, with different international volunteers (sharing room, normally 2-4 people) or to stay in a host family. Accommodation is at the UPA Guesthouse, average but not luxury.

Volunteers prepare their own food. UPA provides gas cooker, a fridge, and utensils.

Alternatively, a volunteer can stay with a host family to be more exposed to the Ugandan culture.

 

Pocket Money:

UPA does not give pocket money.

Visa Info:

The volunteers must apply for a tourist visa online with this link. https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ . This should be done a couple of weeks or months before the departure date. Please refer to infosheet

Insurance:

The volunteer is required to come with his/her insurance

 

 

Fees:

Participants are required to pay a participation fee of Euro 500 (five hundred Euros) on arrival for a period of 1- 3months and 80 Euros (eighty Euros) in advance for each additional month/s.

Fees Used for:

The fee covers pickup from the airport or bus station upon arrival in Uganda, orientation, guesthouse maintenance, and administration costs of UPA

The interested volunteers are requested to contact our partners in their respective countries so as be guided on the application process.

Additional Information:

UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the project but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 30-35 Euros.
