Tiphereth is a Camphill Community that provides residential and day care to adults with learning disabilities. The volunteers provide invaluable support in both the houses and day care workshops. They bring enthusiasm, fresh perspectives and a diversity of cultures.
Our volunteers live in our residential houses, working both in the house and in the Tiphereth workshops, sharing in the day-to-day life, work, culture and social life of the community. In the house they will assist with the personal care of residents and carry out housework duties, as well as take part in social outings and cultural activities. In the workshops they may contribute to gardening, compost production, wood working and arts and crafts. Because our volunteers live in the community houses, during a working day they are not on duty for a set number of hours: their 5 working days per week are spent living and working with the other house and community members. They have 2 days off per week.
Volunteers must be between 18 and 25 years old.
We ask for individuals who have an interest in social care and the environment, and who would like to experience community living, including participating in our social events and helping us celebrate a number of Christian festivals throughout the year.
Accommodation: Each volunteer will have a single bedroom within one of the residential houses. They are provided with bedding and access to a shared bathroom.
Food: Volunteers will help in preparing several meals per week and where everyone in the community eats together. All food is provided for. Dietary requirements can be catered for, but should be discussed during the application process.
