Project Description:

We provide residential care for 48 residents and more than 50 day attendees with a wide range of special needs. Our residents live in 7 houses within the community. Each house accommodates either 6 or 7 residents, a house leader and a team of employees and volunteers.

At Camphill Blair Drummond, we firmly believe that everyone has something to offer, no matter what challenges we face and what needs we have. Within a unique family setting, we seek to help our residents, our day students, our employees and our volunteers reach their fullest potential.

Here, we all live, work and grow together in a vibrant rural community, regardless of age, background, nationality or ability. Employees and volunteers work alongside adults with complex learning disabilities and everyone contributes to the normal pattern of community life. Tasks such as baking bread, tending the gardens and helping out in the estate grounds are shared by everyone and matched to individual abilities.

The commitment and enthusiasm of the people who live and work at Camphill Blair Drummond creates a warm, friendly and supportive setting where everyone’s contributions are valued and respected.

Work Description:

The main responsibilities of volunteers are to offer support and encouragement to our residents within the house, companionship, and encouragement of both residents and day attendees to participate in meaningful activities within our daily creative activities.

As a new volunteer, you will be given a full induction into life in our community, the house you will join, and the activities you participate in. You will have a mentor who will help you establish successful relationships and understand what expectations to have for the individual and how to develop each person’s potential.
