Doreah Child Care Uganda (DCCU) is a non-governmental Organization which was started in 2015 to support children with development and learning exceptions and impairments (disorders). It supports over 80 children with variant impairment such as Deaf blind, Deaf, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Speech Difficulties, Language Difficulties, Learning Difficulties, Down’s Syndrome and those with epilepsy .it also extends its services to the most vulnerable families in the country using the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) approac
Preparing and engaging indoor and outdoor activities.
· Preparing teaching materials
· Music ,dance and drama
· Art and craft
· Engaging learners in enjoyable literature through reading and storytelling.
· Documentation of children’s learning progress.
· Identification and assessment of children with special needs.
· Making assistive devices from locally available resources for the children with disabilities special needs in children.
· Building the capacity of the organization to mobilize more resources to benefit the children with special needs within the centre and those home based care (HBC) program.(optional)
· Developing donor funded project proposals(Optional)
· Apply in the IT skills which can as well post the activities of the organization on the website for visibility.
· Help the Organization to identify the funders for its various activities.
· Carrying out research and documentation on issues pertaining children with special needs in education.
· Identifying the special educational needs among the learners.
And also other special abilities that may be identified within the volunteer.

The volunteer has the possibility to choose between staying in the guesthouse, with different international volunteers (sharing room, normally 2-4 people) or to stay in a host family. Accommodation is at the UPA Guesthouse, average but not luxury.
Volunteers prepare their own food. UPA provides gas cooker, a fridge, and utensils.
Alternatively, a volunteer can stay with a host family to be more exposed to the Ugandan culture.
UPA does not provide pocket money to the volunteers.
The volunteers must apply for a tourist visa online with this link. https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ . This should be done a couple of weeks or months before the departure date. Please refer to infosheet.
The volunteer is required to come with his/her insurance
Participants are required to pay a participation fee of Euro 500 (five hundred Euros) on arrival for a period of 1- 3months and 80 Euros (eighty Euros) in advance for each additional month/s.
The fee covers pickup from the airport or bus station upon arrival in Uganda, orientation, guesthouse maintenance, and administration costs of UPA
The interested volunteers are requested to contact our partners in their respective countries so as be guided on the application process.
UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the project but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 30-35 Euros.
