Location : Alba Home School for children with Autism is located at Government Reservation Estate, Jericho GRA, Ibadan. This is a low density area and noise-free, very receptive and silence from noise pollution.

Project Description:

Volunteer will be assigned into a Special Children Centre and will be exposed into various basic learning and sound communication.  This is a welfare project that gives needed attention to the less privileged and vulnerable children especially the communication defect and altruism in the society.  The categories of children involved in this project are in different age groups.

Work Description:

Volunteer will work with some experienced Staff in the Centre.   Volunteers service will be to complement the efforts of the few staff and volunteers in the project.  Activities may include counseling, cleaning, organizing entertainment, cultural events and various social occasions (games, courses of foreign languages, etc.)

Requirements:

Be motivated for the voluntary work

·   Responsible to keep rules and exhibit cooperation throughout the project.

·   Best efforts to understand and respect cultures both of the hosts and other volunteers

·   Open minded to make friends and to speak English (within the groups) as official language

·   To adapt and enjoy simple conditions of living such as food and accommodation

Be open minded to assist the children in their inevitable condition

Accommodation and Food:

Volunteer living apartment often times stay with host family closer to the project and if interested, volunteer can reside in a self-contain bedroom in the project centre with available facilities and conveniences.

No pocket money allowance

Visa Info:

Visa Issues: Please note that Tourist Visa is only for 8 weeks while stay for Business Visa or TWP Visa is not more than 6 months. If your stay is more than 6 months, STR Visa should be collected before departure. VWAN will help to administrate and facilitate extension Visa where possible.

Insurance:

The volunteer should obtain appropriate   insurance to cover period of stay in the project.  Host organisation allow this to be evident before placement in the project and SCI travel Health Insurance is also appropriate.

Fees:

The participation fee is 300€ for 1 month placement for each camp project.

Fees Used for:

This covers both feeding and accommodation per week without any extra cost to collect for return trip to Airport.  Immediate payment is made by the volunteer on arrival to the country.  The participation fee will cover expenses on daily feeding, moderate accommodation, administration, on-arrival orientation, group travels to the project site, preparation, certification and other logistics support.

Application Info: The aim of the camp is mainly to create lovely and learning environment for the children in spite of their pathetic situation. It is also hoped that their neglected conditions is improved upon and to prevent the violation of Child rights. The volunteers will appreciate everyday life, habits and culture of these children through practical and social help they will provide within the period.
Additional Information:

Pick up is arranged by VWAN on arrival  and return to the Airport after project.  NO extra fees is required after the payment of Participation fees on arrival.
