Community Empowerment For Village Development Uganda (CEFOVID-UG) is a registered local Community Based charity, established in 2012, registration No- LUB/12/212.Its located in the urban surbubs of Lubya parish slums ,5km from the capital city of Kampala Uganda. CEFOVID was founded to help support the marginalized slum orphans and vulnerable children due to lack any charity to help them out. We currently support 65 kids at our charity school- GOOD MUMMY SCHOOL KOSOVO and other partner schools directly; well-as 130 kids is the total registered number of beneficiaries for CEFOVID.
Activities range from community outreach, administrative work to Kindergarten activities. Volunteers should prepare to assist with one or more of the following:
- Preparing quarterly organization newsletters and activity reports
· To engage in the different innovative avenues of fundraising for social and economic support for the charity school and vulnerable families
· Follow up and coordination of different project activities /events especially education for life.
· Continuous and timely update of our online medias e.g. website and face book
· Coordinating Community work like sanitation and hygiene in Kosovo slum
· To support with administrative work at the offices
· To support our Kindergarten (age 3-9 years)with teaching, art and games(Good mummy Kindergarten)
· Youths counseling in sexual reproductive health
· Computer training
· Conducting Hand washing trainings in communities
Passion to work with children and slum communities
Open minded and emotionally strong with ability to appreciate local setting
Volunteer should be interested not necessarily qualified
Innovativeness, knowledge of social work and administration and Computer skills is an added advantage.
The volunteer has the possibility to choose between staying in the guesthouse, with different international volunteers (sharing room, normally 2-4 people) or to stay in a host family. Accommodation is at the UPA Guesthouse, average but not luxury.
Volunteers prepare their own food. UPA provides gas cooker, a fridge, and utensils.
Alternatively, a volunteer can stay with a host family to be more exposed to the Ugandan culture.
UPA does not give pocket money to volunteers
The volunteers must apply for a tourist visa online with this link. https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ . This should be done a couple of weeks or months before the departure date. Please refer to infosheet
The volunteer is required to come with his/her insurance
Participants are required to pay a participation fee of Euro 500 (five hundred Euros) on arrival for a period of 1- 3months and 80 Euros (eighty Euros) in advance for each additional month/s.
The fee covers pickup from the airport or bus station upon arrival in Uganda, orientation, guesthouse maintenance, and administration costs of UPA
The interested volunteers are requested to contact our partners in their respective countries so as be guided on the application process.
UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the project but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 30-35 Euros.
